Authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide in Ireland after a man's body was found in Cork 24 hours after a murder investigation was opened into the death of his wife 60 miles away in Limerick.
Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a law graduate from Brazil, was found dead in her flat on Lower Cecil Street in Limerick early on Friday. She had sustained fatal stab wounds, and a post-mortem examination later confirmed that she had died violently.
Murder Investigation Launched
Gardai had wanted to talk to Ms Pereira Rosa's husband, Brazilian national Judismar Batista. It is understood he was the man found dead in Cork on Friday, CorkBeo reports.
Friends contacted the authorities after Ms Pereira Rosa failed to meet them outside her apartment. Emergency services gained entry to the flat and discovered her body. A murder investigation was launched immediately as evidence of a violent struggle was found at the scene.
Ms Pereira Rosa had been living in Limerick, where she was employed as a cleaner. She was originally from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
Body Recovered in Cork
On Friday, Gardai in Cork were alerted after the body of a man, believed to be a foreign national, was spotted on rocks close to Blackrock Castle. It is understood the man was known to Ms Pereira Rosa.
Emergency personnel were informed that a man's body had been spotted by a member of the public at around 7 pm on Friday. The area was sealed off with officers maintaining a presence at the scene following the discovery. Members of the Irish Coast Guard were called in, and they recovered the body with the assistance of Gardaí.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to CorkBeo on Saturday: "Gardaí responded to reports of the discovery of the body of an unidentified male at Blackrock, Co. Cork, on the evening of Friday 21st August 2026."
