Man Charged Over Nappy Assault on Girlfriend

An 18-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with felony and misdemeanour domestic assault after allegedly forcing a woman to wear a nappy and strangling her during an incident in mid-June.

Xander Holmberg, of Rochester, was charged yesterday in connection with the alleged attack, which investigators say took place after the couple had consensual sex at the victim's residence.

Alleged Nappy Obsession

According to a probable cause statement, the victim told police that Holmberg "was interested in acting and being treated like a baby" and threatened to force her to wear a nappy. The woman "made it clear to Holmberg that she did not want to wear diapers/pullups."

Investigators allege Holmberg then "grabbed a pullup" and attempted to force the garment on the victim while pinning her down in bed. He is accused of grabbing and holding the victim by the throat, covering her mouth, and putting her in a chokehold to keep her quiet.

Victim Thought She Would Die

The woman reported that she began having a panic attack during the ordeal and could not breathe while being choked. She told officers that "while Holmberg was doing this, she thought she was going to die."

Investigators documented that the attack left bruises and injuries to her thigh, neck, and jaw. Photographs of the injuries were provided to police by the victim's mother.

Charges and Potential Sentences

Holmberg faces a charge of domestic assault by strangulation, a felony carrying a maximum three-year prison term, as well as a misdemeanour domestic assault charge that carries a potential 90-day custodial sentence.

Holmberg resides with his family in Rochester, a city located 90 miles from Minneapolis.
