Brian May has sent his best wishes to his friend and fellow guitarist Noodles, of The Offspring, after the musician announced he is stepping back from touring due to a health issue. The Queen star, 79, said he was “sad to hear” about Noodles’ condition, which the latter described as “sudden and fairly serious.”
May’s message of support
May, who flew out to the Starmus Festival for the 2026 event, shared a video of the two playing together at a previous edition of the festival. In his post, he wrote: “Get well soon dear Noodles! Sad to hear our brilliant Noodles is unwell – this clip is from a previous Starmus – the very first time he and I noodled together! All power to ya buddy – get well soon.”
Noodles, whose real name is Kevin Wasserman, announced in a statement this week: “It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performances for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue.”
Noodles’ statement and fan reactions
He added: “The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive, and will keep rocking you all in my absence. I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later. Until then, I will miss all of you with all my heart.” He signed off: “Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I really appreciate it.”
The Offspring’s official Instagram account responded to May’s post with a red heart emoji. Fans also shared their support, with one writing: “Oh I hope he gets better soon,” and another saying: “Best wishes and speedy recovery to Noodles.” A third commented: “Oh no, hadn’t heard that. All the best for Noodles. Great guy. That concert introduced me to The Offspring, which I’m super grateful for.”
Upcoming shows
The Offspring have not yet confirmed who will stand in for Noodles at their upcoming performances. Their next show is scheduled for October 24 in Los Angeles, with more dates planned for November and January.
