Police bodycam footage captured the moment a machete-wielding teenager was tasered to the floor as he tried to flee through a busy McDonald's in Nottingham.
Theo Gottshalk, 19, had threatened to chop off a teenager's arm unless he handed over his phone during a robbery on Woolpack Lane, Nottingham, at around midday on September 9 last year. He fled with the victim's phone, bracelet and chain.
Arrest in McDonald's
After a manhunt, Gottshalk was recognised on a Nottingham bus on October 23 and reported to police. Officers followed him into McDonald's on Clumber Street, where he violently resisted arrest.
The footage shows Gottshalk wrestling with four officers before losing his shirt and making a dash for the door. An officer fired a Taser, causing a large 3-foot-long machete to tumble from his trousers.
Evidence and Sentencing
The distinctive red-handled weapon matched the description given by the victim. Police also found several deal bags of cannabis on Gottshalk, and detectives matched clothing seized from him to CCTV footage of the robbery.
Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court last Friday, Gottshalk, of Forest Fields, Nottingham, was jailed for 13 years as part of an extended custodial sentence.
