KFC worker stabbed in gravy dispute, two men charged

A violent altercation over gravy at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the United States has left an employee hospitalised with multiple stab wounds and two men facing serious criminal charges.

Charges Filed After Counter Attack

According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, James Carter, 48, and Gerald Carter, 32, were arrested and charged with attempted murder following the alleged incident on December 27. The attack occurred at the KFC located on Craig Road and Camino Al Norte.

Officers responding to reports of a stabbing detained four people at the scene. Authorities stated they recovered a large folding knife from Gerald Carter's pocket. The injured worker was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Chokehold and Stabbing

An arrest report reviewed by local outlet KSNV indicates the confrontation began when Gerald Carter became upset about the gravy he received with his order. He allegedly returned to the restaurant three times, claiming the employee was "calling him names and disrespecting him."

Witnesses told police that on his final visit, Gerald Carter was accompanied by his uncle, James Carter. The situation then escalated dramatically. Police reviewed surveillance video which reportedly showed both men going behind the counter. The footage appears to depict Gerald Carter stabbing the employee multiple times while James Carter held the worker in a chokehold for several seconds.

Bail Set and Court Dates Scheduled

Despite the evidence, Gerald Carter later told investigators that while a fight occurred, his knife remained in his pocket. He reiterated that the employee had insulted him.

Both men were booked into the Clark County Detention Center. They face charges of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

During a court appearance, North Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Jonathan Cooper set bail at $100,000 for Gerald Carter and $10,000 for James Carter. KLAS reported that the judge also ruled both must wear ankle monitors if released. Their next court date is scheduled for January 14 at 9 a.m., according to online records.
