A seven-year-old girl, Patricia Edmiston, was mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Corning, California, on Saturday June 27, 2026, around 12:30pm. The attack left her with severe injuries, including her scalp ripped off and her legs shredded. She was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center, about 100 miles south of Corning, where she underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

Attack Details and Police Response

The Tehama County Sheriff's Office confirmed that six dogs believed to be involved have been seized and taken to the Tehama County Animal Shelter. An investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made as of July 4. The breeds of the dogs and ownership status remain unknown. Police have interviewed several witnesses.

Family's Struggle and Community Support

Patricia's grandmother, Monica Edmiston, identified the child publicly and created a GoFundMe fundraiser. She wrote: 'She was rushed to UC Davis, where she has already undergone surgery and remains in critical condition. Patricia is an incredibly strong little girl, and her resilience is inspiring everyone around her.' The family faces financial strain, sleeping in their car in Sacramento to be near the hospital. The fundraiser originally aimed for $3,000 but has exceeded $4,000.
