GB News Coverage of Ann Widdecombe Murder Investigation
GB News came to a halt on Sunday as former Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley provided a fresh update on the Ann Widdecombe murder investigation. Appearing on the programme, Bleksley weighed in on the case after a 28-year-old British man was arrested at an address in South Yorkshire.
Reflecting on the arrest, Bleksley explained the police's likely next steps. He noted that police have the right to hold the man for 24 hours initially, with a possible extension to 36 hours authorized by a Superintendent. If further detention is needed, they must appear before a magistrate.
Police Investigation Praised as Measured
Bleksley commended Devon and Cornwall Police for their handling of the case. "I think their release of information has been measured," he said. "We haven't seen CCTV images of suspects or been given descriptions because the police didn't deem it necessary." He warned against online speculation, stating it could be hurtful to Ann's family and distract the police.
