A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly shooting a head teacher and a member of staff at a secondary school in southern France.
The teenager is accused of entering Joseph-Lakanal college in Aubagne armed with a 12-gauge shotgun before opening fire, according to French reports. The school's principal and a teacher suffered gunshot wounds to their lower bodies and were treated at the scene by emergency services. Neither is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Daily Star.
No link to protests
Officials said the shooting has, at this stage, "no connection to the high school protests, as this school is not affected by the blockades". The Bouches-du-Rhône fire brigade confirmed it had "responded to an incident at the Joseph-Lakanal middle school in Aubagne," but provided no further details.
