Four people have been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms after a police raid on a property in Wallsend recovered a number of suspected firearms and rounds of ammunition. Two men, aged 61 and 19, and two women, aged 48 and 23, remain in police custody.
Warrant Executed on Cotterdale
Shortly after 8am on Tuesday, Northumbria Police executed a warrant at an address on Cotterdale in the Hadrian Lodge West area of Wallsend, North Tyneside. A large police presence descended on the street, with a cordon covering a section of the road. Officers were seen removing contents from the house and garden, and two cars inside the cordon remained in place.
A specialist support team has been in attendance as enquiries continue. Police Community Support Officers are in the area to support residents.
No Wider Risk to Public
According to a Northumbria Police spokesperson: "Shortly after 8am today (Tuesday), we executed a warrant at an address on Cotterdale in the Hadrian Lodge West area of Wallsend in North Tyneside. Once inside the property, officers recovered a number of suspected firearms and rounds of ammunition. Four people – two men aged 61 and 19 and two women aged 48 and 23 – have been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms. All four remain in police custody. Officers remain at the scene to carry out further enquiries and offer reassurance to residents. There is no wider risk to the public."
Residents are being reassured by police that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active.
