Five victims named in A66 crash that killed seven

The five people who died in a Volkswagen Passat that was driving the wrong way on the A66 in Middlesbrough have all been named. Seven people died in the crash, which occurred on Saturday morning (August 22).

Officers identified

Two police officers, PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, were also killed in the crash. Their names were released on Saturday (August 22).

According to reports, a Volkswagen Passat had been travelling the wrong way down the dual carriageway, near Middlesbrough, when it smashed into a marked armed police response vehicle travelling in the right direction.

Passengers named

The identities of the five people travelling in the VW have now been revealed. Inside the vehicle was Michael Robert Cahill, 23, Theo Rae, 17, Cole Robert Worthy, 16, Jacob Matusiak, 23 and Makai Saddington, 18.

Family Liaison officers are supporting their loved ones, say Cleveland Police.
