Manchester United are poised to complete the signing of Carlos Baleba in a deal worth around £70million, with the midfielder set to become their fourth summer addition. However, there is still time for more arrivals before the transfer window closes, with the club targeting a left-sided defender and potentially a striker in the 11 days remaining.
Baleba deal close to completion
Michael Carrick has been chasing another central midfielder and will seemingly welcome Baleba to Old Trafford in the coming days. A deal worth around £70million has reportedly been agreed between United and Brighton, with all relevant documents exchanged and Baleba completing a medical on Saturday.
The 21-year-old has been linked with the Red Devils since last summer and will become United's fourth signing of the window. Express Sport looks at three more players United could sign before the deadline.
Lewis Hall remains a target
United are known to be hunting a new left-back, with Luke Shaw their only real senior option at present. Hall has been linked with a move for several weeks, but Newcastle are thought to be opposed to selling the 21-year-old so late in the window.
According to TEAMtalk, the only way for a deal to happen would be for United to pay around £70m, which would represent a world-record fee for a left-back. It remains to be seen if the Red Devils will attempt to test Newcastle's resolve, with Hall believed to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.
Joaquin Seys as a cheaper alternative
If a move for Hall proves too expensive, United could turn their attention to Club Brugge defender Seys, who would be a much cheaper option. He is thought to be valued at around £30m by the Belgian heavyweights and is the same age as Hall, meaning he has plenty of room for additional growth.
Seys represented Belgium at this summer's World Cup and is thought to be attracting attention across Europe as a result of his strong displays. His future remains up in the air heading into the final days of the window, with an exit potentially going down to the wire if United and other clubs firm up their interest with concrete offers.
Nicolo Tresoldi could bolster attack
United could also try to sign a striker before the end of the window to support Benjamin Sesko, given the extra games they will be playing this season having qualified for the Champions League. They have been credited with a desire to land Tresoldi, who also plays for Club Brugge, in a deal worth as much as £42m.
Roma have already seen a £30m offer knocked back, according to Sport, but the Italian giants are yet to return with an improved proposal. This could allow United to swoop in and sign Tresoldi for themselves, as long as they are willing to match his current club's valuation.
