At least five people have been confirmed dead and 19 others injured after a school bus plummeted 650ft down a steep slope in Nepal. The incident occurred in Pokhara on Friday, when the vehicle reportedly lost control and plunged down the hillside.
Among the deceased are four students – three girls and a boy – and a parent who was accompanying the group. The bus, which belongs to Kalika Boarding School, was carrying students home from tuition classes at the time of the crash.
Emergency response and rescue efforts
Emergency crews reached the scene and rescued injured pupils from the wreckage before transporting them to hospital. The crash happened near Majhathana in Pokhara Metropolitan City-28, just north of the Bijaypur Army barracks.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or details of the injured. The cause of the loss of control is still under investigation.
