Khadeem Parris, a 16-year-old from Motherwell, Scotland, died from a stab wound following an incident at an address in the Abington area of Northampton. A murder inquiry was launched last Tuesday, and a 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday night remains in police custody, according to Northamptonshire Police.
Family's Tribute to Khadeem
In a statement released on Monday, Khadeem's family expressed their profound grief, describing him as a funny, smiling boy who loved to sing and joke. They highlighted his kindness and strength, noting that he had coped with much in his young life and was looking forward to the future.
"Khadeem was such a funny, smiling boy. He was always singing, he loved a joke, and he was such a kind son – he had a kindness inside of him," the family said. "He had such strength too. He had coped with such a lot in his young life and he was making plans and so looking forward to the future."
Khadeem was excited to start college in August to study plumbing and electrical work, eager to make the most of the opportunities available to him.
Brother and Sister Remembered
The family also remembered Khadeem as an amazing brother to his older brother and younger sister. They enjoyed play fights and playing computer games together, sharing a special handshake that marked their friendship and closeness.
"Words can’t explain how we feel at this time. We cannot understand it and we are utterly heartbroken at his loss," the statement added. "Khadeem, we love you, we miss you and you will always be in our hearts."
Police Investigation Ongoing
Two men, aged 19 and 56, and a 51-year-old woman previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail pending further inquiries. The investigation continues as police urge anyone with information to come forward.
