Zac Dillon, a 32-year-old father from Fairfield, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for threatening to murder his ex-girlfriend and poison her dogs. The threats were made in a series of voicemails while he was subject to a non-molestation order.
Details of the Threats
Dillon, of Freehold Street, left multiple voicemails for Megan Taylor, the mother of his one-year-old daughter, on April 26 this year. He said: "I'll stab all of yous. I'll go back to jail. I'll smash your head in, watch. I'm gonna murder you." He also threatened to kill Taylor's friend, saying: "I'll stab Becca to death."
Prosecutor Nardeen Nemat told Liverpool Crown Court that Dillon and Taylor had an "on and off relationship" before a non-molestation order was granted in July last year. The order prohibited Dillon from attending Taylor's home in Bootle or contacting their daughter until February 2027.
Criminal History
Dillon has 25 previous convictions for 39 offences, including a 31-month sentence in November 2024 for wounding in relation to a stabbing. He was released on licence in August 2024 but has since been recalled. The court heard that he blamed the son of one of Taylor's friends for the voicemails when interviewed by police.
Defence barrister Anna Duke said Dillon is "deeply ashamed" and has used his time in custody to reflect. She noted his ADHD diagnosis, saying: "His brain sees things in a different way. Perhaps he reacts more quickly than others who are not neurodiverse." She added that his earliest release date would be November 2026.
Sentencing and Impact
Recorder Anna Pope KC sentenced Dillon to 16 months in prison and imposed a 10-year restraining order banning him from contacting Taylor. She said: "She has, in my view, been seriously impacted by your behaviour on that day. She already suffers from PTSD, which has been worsened by your conduct." The judge noted that the offences were committed while on licence, a "serious aggravating factor," and in a domestic abuse context intended to maximize fear and distress.
