Disturbing footage has emerged from HMP Edinburgh showing a prisoner wrapped in a bed sheet being dragged across the floor by other inmates. The video, filmed on an illicit mobile phone and posted to TikTok, captures the victim being pulled from a bottom bunk and yanked along the ground as laughing is heard in the background.
Incident Details
The clip is captioned: "Can't pay, we'll take you away." Another video from the same account shows a prisoner sliding in water in a prison hallway. The account was uploaded days ago but has since been deleted, according to Edinburgh Live.
Scottish Prison Service Response
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: "Our staff work hard to keep prisons safe and secure, using all available technology and intelligence to prevent illicit items entering our establishments. We continue to work with Police Scotland, and other partners, to take action against those who attempt to breach our security."
It is illegal for prisoners in Scotland to possess personal mobile phones, and offenders can face extended sentences. The SPS stated it will take action against those involved in the incident.
