A man subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order for exposure was jailed after he was caught drunk on the Metro at South Gosforth in Newcastle.
Kenneth Wilson, 63, of no fixed address but formerly of Kenton, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court to be sentenced for breaching the order. He had pleaded guilty to the offence.
Caught on the Metro
On December 6 last year, a customer service manager for the Metro was notified of Wilson at South Gosforth station. Gurjot Kaur, prosecuting, said: "She told the defendant to get off [the Metro] and he did. He told her to f*** off multiple times."
Wilson then walked off and was arrested on nearby Station Road by officers. The court heard he was "clearly intoxicated" at the time and was "smelling strongly of alcohol".
Previous convictions
The court was told Wilson had 86 previous convictions for 182 offences. He had been in custody on remand since December 12 last year.
Jennifer Coxon, defending, said: "The defendant has complex needs and has struggled with homelessness and alcohol use." She added that he experiences "self-neglect" due to mental health issues and asked the judge to consider his guilty plea.
Sentence
Judge Gavin Doig sentenced Wilson to 10 months prison. Due to time already served, he is likely to be released immediately.
