A Romanian father tragically died after suffering a heart attack while rushing to the scene of a car crash involving his daughter. Gheorghe, 45, was traveling with his wife from their home in Vasile Alecsandri village, Galați County, when they received news that their 23-year-old daughter had been injured in a low-impact collision.
Fatal Medical Emergency on the Road
En route, Gheorghe began feeling unwell and managed to pull over on the DN25 road near Șendreni before losing consciousness. A passing ambulance noticed the commotion and stopped to assist. Paramedics performed CPR for 50 minutes but could not revive him. Gheorghe, who had a pre-existing heart stent, was declared dead at the scene from a heart attack.
His daughter escaped serious injury in the crash, which involved no other vehicles. Traffic was briefly disrupted while police managed the scene. Gheorghe's body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. A police investigation is ongoing.
Social Media Outpouring of Grief
People have expressed their condolences on social media. One Facebook user who helped at the scene wrote: "May God rest his soul, I helped with the cardiac massage until the paramedics came... such a shame." Another comment read: "God forbid such a thing, we should enjoy every moment of life because we never know when it will end."
Separate Climbing Tragedy in Romania
In a separate incident, a Romanian tourist died in a climbing accident in the Bucegi Mountains. Antonia Mihăilescu, 36, an experienced alpinist and dentist from Bucharest, fell 40 feet when a safety rope anchor failed during a descent of the Albișoara Brânei route. She was roped with three men and an instructor when the single anchor point gave way, causing a chain reaction. Antonia suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene; the three men survived with serious injuries.
