Manchester's Drug Crime Surge
Anderson points to a 27% increase in recorded drug crime in Greater Manchester last year, with police recording 19,345 drug offences in 2025. He claims this is the reality of Burnham's governance and a blueprint for the country that should deeply worry voters.
Illegal Migrant Cases
The MP cites the case of an illegal migrant in his Ashfield constituency who raped a vulnerable young girl and is now serving 14 years. He accuses Prime Minister Keir Starmer of reaching for political excuses rather than addressing why the man was allowed into the country. Anderson says this epitomises Labour's detachment from ordinary people.
Home Office Failures
Internal Home Office figures reveal that around 50,000 illegal migrants have absconded from the system, including more than 1,200 foreign national offenders. Anderson says this shows the government has lost track of thousands of people.
Tax Policies Fuel Black Market
Anderson criticises Labour's planned tobacco tax hike this autumn, arguing it will drive more smokers towards illegal cigarettes sold by criminal gangs. He notes that HMRC estimates £1.7 billion was lost in tobacco duty between 2024/2025 due to illicit trade. Similarly, new gambling restrictions risk pushing punters towards illegal offshore websites, he warns.
