A 29-year-old British man has been found shot dead in a popular Spanish holiday region just days before Christmas, sparking a major police investigation.
Body Discovered at Housing Development
The victim's body was discovered on 21 December at a housing development in the Campoamor area of Alicante, on Spain's Costa Blanca. The man, who has not been formally named, was found with several bullet wounds.
The Homicide Unit of the Judicial Police from the Alicante Command has taken charge of the case. Authorities have imposed a secrecy order, which restricts the release of further information as the probe continues.
Investigation Launched Amid Possible Links
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting. However, reports from local Spanish media indicate detectives are exploring a potential link to another recent violent incident.
That separate case involved a 32-year-old British man who was also shot in the region but survived his injuries. Police have not officially confirmed any connection between the two events.
Ongoing Probe in Tourism Hotspot
The murder has sent shockwaves through the Campoamor area, a well-known tourism and residential hotspot for international visitors, including many Britons. The Costa Blanca is one of Spain's most frequented coastal destinations.
The judicial secrecy order means updates from the Spanish police are likely to be limited until significant progress is made. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
