The life of a heroic social worker who played a crucial role in bringing a depraved grooming gang to justice has been tragically cut short after a reckless driver in a modified BMW ploughed into her car.

Robyn Barlow, a 33-year-old social worker described as "beautiful and selfless" by her devastated family, had dedicated her career to protecting vulnerable children. The Fateful Collision
On September 17, 2022, Robyn's life was brutally taken when 24-year-old Haroon Ahmed, driving a heavily modified BMW 1 Series at dangerous speeds, lost control on Holyhead Road in Wednesbury.
Witnesses described hearing the roar of Ahmed's engine as he accelerated aggressively before smashing head-on into Robyn's Volkswagen Polo. The impact was so severe that emergency services struggled to free her from the wreckage.
A Pattern of Dangerous Behaviour
Court proceedings revealed Ahmed was no stranger to reckless driving. His BMW had been modified for excessive speed, and he displayed complete disregard for other road users on that fatal day.
"This wasn't an accident," the prosecution stated. "This was the inevitable consequence of deliberate, dangerous behaviour behind the wheel."
Justice Served, But Too Late
Ahmed was sentenced to six years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He received an additional nine-month sentence for a separate assault on a police officer.
