Sara Sharif's Siblings Must Stay in Pakistan, Council Says
Sara Sharif Siblings to Remain in Pakistan

Siblings of murdered schoolgirl Sara Sharif, aged 10, are forced to remain in Pakistan after Surrey County Council announced it has no choice but to withdraw from legal proceedings to bring them back to the UK.

Council's Statement

The council stated it has done everything within its power to support the children, but legal challenges in Pakistan have made it impossible to continue the process. Sara was murdered by her father Urfan Sharif and stepmother Beinash Batool in 2023 after years of abuse.

Murder and Aftermath

Sara's body was found in a bunk bed at the family home in Woking, Surrey, on August 10, 2023, a day after Sharif and Batool fled to Pakistan, taking Sara's five siblings with them. The couple was jailed for life in December 2024, with minimum terms of 40 and 33 years respectively.
