Tragic Death of Toddler Leads to Murder Charges

An Oklahoma couple is facing second-degree murder charges after their family dog mauled and killed their two-year-old daughter in a horrific incident that has shocked the local community.

Jordan McGuire, 34, and Darci Lambert, 24, were arrested following the tragic death of their daughter, Locklynn McGuire, at their Oklahoma City home.

Details of the Fatal Attack

Police were called to the residence just after 11:30pm on November 18 following concerns that the young girl had been 'eaten by something'. Upon arrival, officers discovered the devastating scene: Locklynn was found deceased in the jaws of one of the family's four dogs, identified as a black pit bull named Ella.

Oklahoma City Police Staff Sergeant Dillon Quirk revealed that the little girl had been shut in a room with the canine. 'The child was left in that room with the animal for a substantial period of time before she was discovered deceased,' he stated, confirming this wasn't the first violent encounter with the same dog.

Court documents obtained by local media reported that Locklynn had been attacked by the same pit bull just two weeks earlier, resulting in a partially severed left ear that required treatment at OU Children's Hospital.

History of Negligence and Failed Interventions

The arrest affidavit claimed the parents would frequently shut the aggressive dog in the same room with their daughter because it attacked their other animals. Despite the Oklahoma Department of Human Services investigating the initial attack, Locklynn was not removed from the residence.

Police investigations determined that the parents continued to leave their daughter with the dangerous animal even after the first serious incident.

Following the tragedy, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare took custody of all four family dogs along with one pet rat and two lizards.

Community Mourning and Memorial

Family members have started a GoFundMe to raise money for Locklynn's memorial service, describing the incident as a 'devastating dog attack'. In a tribute to the little girl, loved ones remembered Locklynn as 'curious, gentle, and full of joy' - a child who was just weeks away from her third birthday.

The case has raised serious questions about pet ownership responsibilities and child protection protocols when dangerous animals are present in family homes.
