A 10-year-old girl has died and a 16-year-old girl is in hospital after being struck by a car in Bradford. The incident occurred on Ransdale Road at approximately 6.30pm on Sunday.
The two pedestrians were reportedly on their way to visit family when they were hit by a silver Toyota Yaris. Emergency services attended the scene, and the younger girl was taken to hospital, where she died on Monday morning. The 16-year-old suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.
The driver of the Toyota, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in police custody. West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
A member of the local community described the deceased girl as a “beautiful soul” and a “lovely student”. The investigation is ongoing.
