Three Rushed to Hospital After Serious A92 Collision Involving Tractor and Motorbikes
Emergency services were dispatched to a severe crash on the A92 just south of Aberdeen, near the village of Catterline, yesterday afternoon at 3.25pm. The incident involved a tractor and two motorbikes, resulting in serious injuries to three individuals.
Details of the Injured Parties and Vehicles
Upon arrival, responders discovered a 61-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, who were the rider and pillion passenger of a BMW K1200 motorbike, both with serious injuries. Additionally, a 44-year-old man, riding a Yamaha FZ6 motorbike, was also found with serious wounds. All three victims were promptly transported to hospital for urgent medical treatment. The current status of their injuries remains unclear as investigations continue.
The driver of the tractor involved in the collision emerged uninjured from the accident. This has raised questions about the dynamics of the crash, which authorities are now meticulously examining.
Road Closure and Police Investigation
The A92 was closed for approximately seven hours to facilitate a thorough crash investigation by police. During this time, officers scoured the scene to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to the collision. The prolonged closure caused significant disruption to local traffic, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Police Scotland has issued a public plea for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who may have captured the incident on dashcam footage. Sergeant Lesley Morrison emphasized the importance of community assistance in the ongoing enquiry.
'Our enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened and I'm appealing for the public's help,' said Sergeant Morrison. 'Were you travelling on the A92 around the time of the incident and saw what happened? Did you see any of the vehicles prior to the crash and have information which may help? If you do, please come forward.'
She further urged drivers to review their dashcam recordings: 'I'd also ask drivers with dash-cams to review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.'
How to Provide Information
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1783 of 21 March. The appeal underscores the critical role that public cooperation plays in resolving such serious road incidents and ensuring road safety in the region.
