A fatal collision between a car and a van in North London has claimed the life of an 18-year-old man and left a teenage boy with life-changing injuries.
Details of the Enfield Collision
Metropolitan Police officers and the London Ambulance Service were called to Ferny Hill in Enfield at approximately 11.40pm on Wednesday, 6 November. They discovered three injured passengers at the scene: two teenage boys and the 18-year-old man. All were rushed to hospital for treatment.
A man in his 40s, believed to have been driving the van involved, was also injured and taken to hospital. His injuries, along with those of the second teenage boy, were assessed as not life-changing.
Tragic Outcome and Ongoing Investigation
Despite the efforts of medical staff, the 18-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital on Friday, 8 November. The family of the young man who died is being supported by specially trained police officers.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue their enquiries to establish the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Detective Constable Pauline Redmond, leading the investigation, issued a direct appeal to the public. "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area on the night of the incident to come forward," she said.
"We understand there were other vehicles using the road at the time who may have dash cam footage or further information which could aid our investigation. We urge them to contact us as soon as possible."
