A 17-year-old girl has tragically died following a horrific car crash on the A19, which also left a teenage boy fighting for his life in a critical condition.
Police Launch Investigation and Appeal for Information
Northumbria Police have confirmed they are investigating the circumstances of the collision, which occurred on the evening of 25 November 2025. Sergeant John Sanderson, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), led the public response.
"Firstly, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the teenager who has tragically passed away," Sgt Sanderson stated. "We will offer them all of the support we can."

The police have confirmed that a full investigation is now under way and a number of enquiries have already been carried out. Authorities are urgently appealing to the public for assistance.
"I would ask anyone with information regarding what took place – particularly those with dash cam footage of the moments leading up to the collision – to contact us," Sgt Sanderson added. This footage is considered vital for investigators to piece together a complete picture of the incident.
