A car crashed through the entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport on Friday evening, striking a Delta Air Lines ticket counter and injuring six people, airport officials said.
The driver was taken into custody, according to the Wayne County Airport Authority. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and airport police are investigating.
Video posted on social media showed a blue four-door sedan stopped, with its bonnet and boot open, in front of Delta counters in what appeared to be a departure lobby.
Delta Air Lines said there were no injuries or operational impact to the airline, but confirmed that three employees were assessed by emergency personnel after encountering debris.
Glass and other debris lay strewn on the ground at the entrance, cordoned off by yellow police tape. A traveller named Ali Khalifa told local news outlet WXYZ that everything “happened in seconds”.
