A 12-year-old girl has died after being struck by a double decker bus in Kilwinning, Ayrshire. Emergency services were called to Lauchlan Way at around 1.10pm on Tuesday, November 3, following reports of a collision involving the young pedestrian.
Despite the efforts of responders, the schoolgirl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.
No other injuries reported
There were no reports of any other injuries following the crash. Police have launched enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the girl who died at what is an extremely difficult time for them.
"We would ask that anyone with any information contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1484 of Tuesday, 3 November, 2026."
Road reopened
Lauchlan Way has since reopened following the fatal collision.
