A teenage girl has tragically died and another has been left with serious injuries following a collision involving a minibus carrying nine teenagers near their school in North Yorkshire.

The fatal incident occurred on Toulston Lane in Tadcaster at approximately 12:30pm on Monday afternoon. It involved a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus, which was transporting nine teenagers aged between 16 and 18, and a Hyundai i10 car.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, close to Tadcaster Grammar School, but despite their efforts, one girl, a passenger in the minibus, was pronounced dead at the location. Another teenage girl from the minibus sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities have stated her condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
