Chelsea's Wesley Fofana Hits 50 Licence Points After Latest Speeding Fine
Fofana's Licence Hits 50 Points After Speeding in Rolls-Royce

Chelsea footballer Wesley Fofana has accumulated an astonishing 50 penalty points on his driving licence after being convicted of his latest motoring offence. The 24-year-old defender, who earns over £200,000 a week, was caught speeding in his £300,000 white Rolls-Royce Cullinan in London.

The Latest Offence and Court Appearance

The French international pleaded guilty to one count of speeding after an automatic camera caught him travelling at 54mph in a 40mph zone on the A316 Chertsey Road in Twickenham. The incident occurred in the early hours of 27 February, at around 1.30am.

Fofana, who is currently believed to be in Portugal, did not appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court for the hearing. He was dealt with in his absence, receiving a £1,062 fine and a further three penalty points added to his licence. The fine was broken down into a £666 financial penalty, a £266 victim surcharge, and £130 in court costs.

A 'Habitual Offender' with a Lengthy Record

Prosecutor Kari Williamson informed the court that Fofana's driving record shows he is currently disqualified and is a non-UK licence holder. He is already banned from driving until 13 May 2027 for a previous dangerous driving offence.

Magistrate Alan Jefferson labelled the player a 'habitual offender'. The court took his substantial income and early guilty plea into consideration when sentencing. Fofana's lawyer, Stephen Oldham, stated this was the defender's tenth driving conviction in less than a year and that he would have to retake his driving test before being allowed back on the road.

A History of Dangerous Driving

This latest incident is part of a long series of motoring transgressions for the injury-plagued centre-back. In October last year, he was spared jail after pleading guilty to dangerous driving. Footage showed him erratically undertaking using the hard shoulder of a Surrey motorway in his white Lamborghini, an act described as 'ridiculous' by a judge.

For that offence, he was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work and was given an 18-month ban, which runs concurrently with his existing disqualification. District Judge Julie Cooper criticised him for setting a dangerous example to his young fans.

Just last May, Fofana was banned and slapped with 38 penalty points for eight separate speeding offences committed in his fleet of luxury vehicles, including the Rolls-Royce, a £200,000 Lamborghini Urus, and a £100,000 Audi. He received a £7,569 fine for those breaches.

The footballer, who lives in a £3.5 million mansion near Chelsea's Cobham training ground, joined the club in 2022 for £70 million but has been sidelined for much of his tenure with serious injuries, including an ACL tear.
