A quiet neighbourhood was left terrorised by one of their own—a Royal Mail postal worker who turned from delivering letters to delivering chaos. Mauro Paul Coluzzi, 49, has been sentenced for a shocking crime spree that targeted the very community he served.
The reign of terror began in May 2023 when Coluzzi, of no fixed address, embarked on a campaign of theft, criminal damage, and antisocial behaviour that would last for months. His actions left residents fearful and their property damaged.
A Catalogue of Crimes
Coluzzi's criminal activities included:
- Stealing a £1,000 bicycle from a terrified victim
- Vandalising multiple vehicles with paint, causing thousands in damages
- Engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour towards residents
- Committing theft from gardens and properties
His behaviour became so concerning that a Criminal Behaviour Order was issued against him in August 2023—but Coluzzi brazenly continued his spree.
Justice Served at Last
Coluzzi's crime wave finally ended when he was arrested and brought before Southampton Magistrates' Court. He pleaded guilty to multiple offences, including:
- Two counts of criminal damage
- One count of theft
- Breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order
- Using threatening or abusive words or behaviour
The court sentenced him to 22 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £1,186 in compensation to his victims and complete 25 days of rehabilitation activities.
This case serves as a stark reminder that crime can come from unexpected places, even those we trust to deliver our mail and serve our communities.
