Welsh darts star Gerwyn Price has taken to social media to appeal for help and offer a reward after his expensive coat was stolen while he was watching a rugby match.
The Newport Pub Theft
The incident occurred at Potters Pub in Newport, where Price was watching a Dragons rugby game. The darts professional later revealed on his Instagram story that his long black Sandbanks puffer coat had been taken. In a frustrated post, he described the culprit as a "smelly scruffy old ruff" and confirmed the venue was reviewing its CCTV footage to identify the thief.
A Reward for Information
Determined to recover the garment, Price has now put a £200 reward on the table. He announced that anyone who retrieves the coat or provides information leading to its return will receive £200 worth of food from his own business, Chippy 501, as well as a signed 'Iceman' playing shirt. The world number one emphasised that "it's not about the coat, it's about the principle" and stated his desire to see the thief "named and shamed". He has also started the hashtag '#findthecoat' to amplify the search on social media.
Fan Tips and World Championship Focus
The appeal has already generated potential leads. One fan messaged Price to say they overheard a couple in a taxi queue mentioning they had "Gerwyn Price's coat" and that they were heading to Cwmbran. Another suggested the pair may be from Underwood, just outside Newport.
The timing is far from ideal for Price, who is deep in preparation for the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. His campaign begins on December 16 against Adam Gawlas, as he aims to dethrone the current champion, teenager Luke Littler, who won the title in 2025.
