In a brazen overnight raid, thieves have made off with merchandise valued at almost $2 million from a high-end men's boutique in New York City, a store renowned for its celebrity clientele.
The Targeted Heist in SoHo
The burglary took place at the 4G Seller boutique in Manhattan's SoHo district in the early hours of Monday morning. According to the New York City Police Department, four suspects were involved. The group used a ladder to access a fire escape before smashing a window with a brick to gain entry.
Tommy Macari, a brand ambassador for the store, told reporters that the thieves were inside for roughly four minutes but were highly selective. "They came in and knew exactly the pieces they were looking for," he said. The perpetrators specifically targeted the store's most valuable items: a collection of rare, pre-worn designer jeans.
High-Value Vintage and Celebrity Links
The stolen denim pieces are no ordinary jeans. The store's owner, Vincent Ferraro, specialises in sourcing unique vintage clothing, with some pairs reportedly selling for upwards of $90,000 to $150,000. One of the stolen pairs was said to have once belonged to rock singer Lenny Kravitz.
The boutique counts a number of A-list figures among its customers, including rapper Drake, actor Mark Wahlberg, and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. The high-profile nature of the stolen goods offers a glimmer of hope for recovery. "People wear these clothes to be seen in it. And if you're seen in a one-of-one piece, we're going to figure it out," Macari stated.
Investigation and Community Impact
Police estimates of the total value taken have varied between $1 million and $2 million. The suspects, described as wearing construction outfits and headlamps, fled the scene in a sedan. As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made.
The incident disturbed local residents. Guy Story, who lives in an apartment above the store, said he and his wife were "awakened by a crashing sound" around 4 a.m. The NYPD continues to investigate the sophisticated theft, which highlights the risks faced by retailers dealing in exclusive, high-value goods.
