Police are continuing to hunt for thieves who used a vehicle to smash into a TK Maxx store and steal stock from inside. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived at the ram-raid at Newcastle Shopping Park in Byker, which was reported just after 11pm on Wednesday.

The shop was taped off the following morning as repair work got under way. Photos from the scene showed that the glass window and one of the doors had been destroyed in the incident, along with the metal shutters at one side of the store. A metal bollard had also been knocked down, resulting in damage to the pavement.
Despite the damage, TK Maxx reopened on Thursday afternoon, with a spokesperson for the retailer confirming that normal service had resumed.
