President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Iran, warning that 1,000 missiles are 'locked and loaded' and aimed at the Islamic Republic if the nation's administration pursues threats to assassinate him. The warning came hours after the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, where open demands for Trump's death were made.
Trump's Warning on Truth Social
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated: '1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!.' He added that 'orders have already been given' for the U.S. military to 'completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran' over a one-year period, subject to extension.
Alleged Iranian Plot Revealed
This follows reports that Israel allegedly discovered intelligence revealing an Iranian scheme to eliminate the U.S. President, which it shared with the United States, according to sources familiar with the situation reported by the Wall Street Journal. Trump referenced threats against his life while addressing journalists in Turkey on Wednesday during the NATO summit. He said: 'They want to take out the US leader - me. I'm on every list. I saw this morning, I'm on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I've been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn't last very long.'
Iranian Mourners Call for Trump's Death
The next day, Iranians grieved for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and called for Mr Trump's death, with some displaying a banner that declared 'We Will Kill Trump.' Washington and Tehran had been pursuing a durable peace accord, restoring international commerce through the vital Strait of Hormuz and attempting to resolve an ongoing disagreement over Iran's nuclear programme. However, Mr Trump declared the ceasefire is 'over' at the NATO summit in Turkey. He informed reporters: 'I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum.'
