San Diego Islamic Center Shooting: Three Dead, Guard Praised

A shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego has been neutralised, but resulted in the deaths of three individuals, according to police. The incident, which occurred on Monday, saw three adults, including a security guard, found dead at the centre. The guard has been credited with preventing further casualties.

Security Guard Praised for Bravery

San Diego police chief Scott Wahl told reporters that the security guard played a pivotal role in ensuring the situation was not much worse. “One of the deceased is a security guard that works there and I think played a pivotal role in assisting from this being much worse,” he said.

Suspects Found Dead

Two male teenagers, aged 17 and 19, believed to be the perpetrators, were found dead nearby from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The shooting is being investigated as a potential hate crime, police stated.

Police confirmed that all children attending classes at the centre were safe. The Islamic Center of San Diego is the largest mosque in San Diego County and also operates a school.
