Manchester Synagogue Attack: Alleged Associate Charged with Four Terrorism Offences
Manchester Synagogue Attack Associate Charged

A man alleged to have been an associate of the Manchester synagogue attacker has been charged with four terrorism offences, the Crown Prosecution Service has announced.

Charges Brought Following Investigation

Mohammad Bashir, aged 31, now faces prosecution following a detailed investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North West. The charges are directly linked to his alleged conduct involving Jihad Al-Shamie, who carried out the deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester on October 2.

Frank Ferguson, the Chief Crown Prosecutor of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, confirmed the decision. He stated that prosecutors had reviewed the evidence and concluded there was a sufficient basis to proceed.

Details of the Terrorism Offences

Bashir has been charged with one count of preparation of terrorist acts. Additionally, he faces three separate offences of sharing terrorist publications.

The CPS alleges that these publications were shared with Jihad Al-Shamie and others, with the intent of encouraging acts of terrorism. The announcement on December 4, 2025 marks a significant development in the ongoing case.

"We have worked closely with Counter Terrorism Policing North West as they carried out their investigation," Ferguson said, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the charges.

Context and Ongoing Proceedings

This prosecution emerges from the aftermath of the shocking attack earlier in October. The charges underscore the continued focus of authorities on not just the perpetrators of terrorist acts, but also on those alleged to have provided support or encouragement.

The case will now proceed through the judicial system. The charges represent a serious escalation in the legal consequences stemming from the investigation into the synagogue attack network.
