Sussex Police are investigating after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually touched over her clothing while in the water at Brighton beach.
The incident is reported to have happened in the late afternoon or early evening of 23 June, near the bottom of West Street.
Men approached girl and friend on beach
Police said two men allegedly approached the girl and her friend a short time earlier and sat with them on the beach before the alleged offence took place in the water.
Sussex Police have released images of two men officers want to speak to in connection with their enquiries.
Police appeal for information
A statement from the force said: "Police are investigating a report that a teenage girl was sexually touched over clothing on Brighton beach, in an area near to the bottom of West Street. The incident was reported to have happened in the late afternoon/ early evening on 23 June.
"The men were alleged to have approached the victim and her friend a short time earlier and sat with them on the beach before the offence took place in the water. Officers would now like to speak with the two men in the images in connection with further enquiries."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police quoting reference 1694 of 23 June.
The offence took place as most of England was experiencing one of its first severe heatwaves of the summer, reaching record temperatures and prompting many to head to the seaside to cool down.
