Wiltshire Police have launched an urgent public appeal to identify a potential seventh suspect in a major sexual offences investigation, where six men have already been charged with crimes against the same woman.
Charges and Court Appearances
Philip Young, 49, formerly from Swindon and now of Enfield, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 23 December 2025. He faces a total of 56 charges, including multiple counts of rape, possession of indecent images of children, voyeurism, and administering a substance with intent to stupefy for sexual activity. He was remanded in custody ahead of a High Court trial scheduled for January.
In a rare and brave move, his alleged victim, Joanne Young, 48, has waived her legal right to anonymity. Five other men appeared alongside Philip Young in court on the same day, all charged with sexual offences relating to Ms Young.

The five other defendants and their charges are:
- Norman Macksoni, 47, of Wood End Close, Sharnbrook: Charged with one count of rape and possession of extreme images. He indicated a not guilty plea.

Appeal to Find Seventh Man
Detectives have now revealed they are searching for another man in connection with a serious sexual assault against Joanne Young. They have released images of the individual, taken between April and May 2022, and warned he could be "anywhere in the country".
The man is described as being of large build, with scarring on the back of his head, prominent lips, and a hairy body. He is balding with short or shaved hair and had a distinctive tattoo on the left side of his chest at the time the pictures were taken.
Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith stated: "We remain very keen to identify him. It is unknown whether he lives in Swindon or from outside the county, which is why we request that this is shared as widely as possible." He confirmed all information was released with the victim's full support.
Victim's Impact Statement
In a statement previously read on Crimewatch, Joanne Young described the profound impact of the alleged crimes: "I jump constantly at noises, movements, and even shadows. I wake up having recurring nightmares that someone is there touching me, and although I am screaming, no sound comes out and nobody is coming to save me."
Det Supt Smith praised Ms Young's bravery and urged anyone with information to come forward. The public is asked to call 101 quoting reference 54240080286, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
