La Palma Named Cheapest European Holiday for Brits at £474

La Palma in Spain's Canary Islands has been named the cheapest European holiday destination for British travellers, with an average price of £474 per person for a seven-night stay. Research from TravelSupermarket reveals a £120 price drop for the island, known for its black-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic volcanic landscapes.

The Dalaman area of Turkey is the second-cheapest option, averaging £492 per person after a £110 reduction. This region on Turkey's 'turquoise coast' offers a balmy Mediterranean climate, sandy beaches, and attractions like the Oludeniz Blue Lagoon.

Despite concerns over rising travel costs due to the Middle East conflict, many popular destinations have seen price drops. Majorca and Corfu are now cheaper than before the conflict, though the average price for a seven-night summer holiday has increased by £23 overall. Experts suggest lower rates may be due to cautious British travellers and holiday companies eager to boost bookings.

The biggest price drop was recorded for the Neapolitan Riviera in Italy, where costs fell by £232 to £905 per person. This sun-drenched coastline features towns like Amalfi and Positano, as well as Naples, the birthplace of pizza. Outside Europe, the Dominican Republic saw a £130 drop to £1,364 per person.

Chris Webber, Head of Holidays and Deals at TravelSupermarket, advised: 'Prices won't stay like this indefinitely... now could be a smart time to book ahead of any increases.' He noted that holiday companies are offering competitive pricing to stimulate demand.
