Jurors in Russell Brand's rape trial were shown photographs of the disgraced comedian's London townhouse in Hampstead, where he committed some of the offences. The 51-year-old raped a 21-year-old fan at his £2.3 million home at the height of his showbiz career.
Victim's account of the attack
The woman, who was in a relationship at the time, told the court she willingly had a threesome with Brand in 2009 after one of his shows at the Hammersmith Apollo. Overawed by his fame, she agreed to go to his house a few days later for sex.
She said the encounter began with Brand forcing her to strip, shower and brush her teeth before they went to bed together. The court heard he made her shower and wash her hair while he watched through a glass shower cubicle.
Once in the bedroom, the woman said they had consensual sex after he told her: "This is the best decision you've ever made, well done." She told the court Brand then raped her by forcing her into non-consensual anal sex, ignoring her cries of pain.
Photos of the townhouse released
The police-released photos show dark decorations, including a black velvet bed and marbled bathroom. A black framed full-length mirror and a framed crucifix hang over the "enormous" bed. The living room features a black and grey feature wall with a decorative stag, a large black sofa and a guitar in the corner.
Jurors were also shown pictures that Brand allegedly made one of the women take moments before he raped her. Those images show the comedian topless in white trousers blowing a kiss to the camera.
Conviction and sentencing
The woman told the court that after the rape, Brand looked "absolutely f***ing horrified", making her think he would apologise. Instead, she said, he told her: "You need to clear up the mess that you've made."
Brand was being held on remand as he awaits sentencing after being convicted of rape and sexual assault. A judge refused an application for bail so he could say goodbye to his children. He will be sentenced next week.
