Kyler Rattray, 21, has denied the alleged racist murder of an “exceptional” scientist in Dundee. He appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, October 12.
Murder charge and alleged prejudice
Rattray is charged with murdering Dr Fortune Gomo on the city's South Road on July 5 last year, according to STV. Prosecutors claim the killing was aggravated by prejudice relating to race, nationality, or ethnicity.
The indictment states this will be proved under the Hate Crime and Public Order Act.
Separate knife charge and plea
Rattray faces a separate charge of illegally having a knife in a public place. He pled not guilty during the hearing.
He will be expected to go on trial.
