Police have launched an urgent manhunt for a convicted sex offender who has gone missing just weeks after being released from prison.
Offender Vanishes After Release
Darren Inkpen, aged 55, was released from custody on November 13, 2025. He had been serving a five-year sentence imposed in 2020, after which he was made to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Following his release, he was required to stay at a designated hotel in Leeds and attend a probation appointment.
However, Inkpen failed both to register his address with authorities and to appear for his scheduled meeting with probation officers. This double failure means he is now in breach of the strict notification requirements mandated by the Sex Offenders' Register.
Extensive Search and Public Appeal
West Yorkshire Police have conducted what they describe as extensive enquiries in an effort to locate the missing man. Having been unable to find him, they are now turning to the public for assistance.
The force has released two photographs of Inkpen and revealed that he has known connections to southern England. Officers believe he could currently be in the Broadstairs area of Kent or in Newhaven, Sussex.
In a direct appeal, a police spokesperson stated: "Police are appealing for information to help locate Darren Inkpen who is wanted for failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register."
How to Report Information
Members of the public are urged not to approach Inkpen but to contact the authorities immediately with any information regarding his whereabouts.
You can assist by:
- Contacting police online via the official reporting portal.
- Calling 101 and quoting the reference number 13250661376.
- Providing information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
This case recalls the unusual details of Inkpen's original sentencing at Newcastle Crown Court, where he reportedly complained that his prison term might prevent him from attending miniature horse shows.
