Cyberleek, the infamous GTA 6 leaker, has threatened to release a playable build of the entire game online for free unless Rockstar apologises and releases a physical disc version. The threat follows the leaker’s surprise return, during which they shared more unseen gameplay footage, including a demonstration of in-game nudity, and promised further videos.
Leaker’s demand and ultimatum
In a message on Cyberleek’s website, the leaker stated: ‘Here’s the deal, nice and clean. Cyberleek hits 30 million marketcap, the build goes out — full story mode, played to the end, credits and all.’ The leaker claims the build contains the entire story mode.
Cyberleek has previously shared gameplay leaks that prove they have obtained an early copy of the game, although they have shown relatively little of the story campaign so far. Almost everything they have shown has been trivial, despite clearly having the game or some version of it.
Physical release demand
Cyberleek has said they will offer proof if asked, but has not leaked GTA 6’s ending or opening hours, instead sharing random and scattershot pieces of gameplay. The leaker has added that they will not leak the full game so long as Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive release a physical version of GTA 6.
‘Take-Two gets one way out: physical discs and a public apology. They can take it at any moment. Or they can gamble that CL is bluffing. Everyone knows which one they’ll pick,’ the message read.
Context and impact
GTA 6 is only launching digitally, which has not hurt pre-order sales but has earned Rockstar animosity from physical game enthusiasts. Cyberleek has claimed the leaks are meant to protest the lack of a physical version, although they have been making money from the situation, saying it is to cover ‘operational costs.’
It is unlikely Rockstar and Take-Two will acquiesce to Cyberleek’s demands, but a pirated version of the game appearing online would be damaging, even if most people still buy the official version to play the online mode due next year.
In the meantime, another gameplay leak has been shared, focused on a naked Lucia. Non-playable characters do not react to Lucia walking around nude, suggesting Cyberleek used debug mode to make her naked rather than it being a standard in-game option. The footage also shows hand-to-hand combat, with Lucia demonstrating wrestling moves, and a parachuting minigame where she must glide through checkpoints. She fails and slams into a building, falling to her death.
