Jade Hill, 21, has been sentenced to four years and ten months in prison for a brutal glassing attack that left her victim with permanent facial scars and more than 20 stitches. The attack occurred at The Closet nightclub in Weymouth, Dorset, on October 12, 2024.
Attack on ex-partner's new girlfriend
Hill targeted Georgina Kilburn, who is in a relationship with Hill's ex-partner. CCTV footage shows Hill storming over to Kilburn, shouting abuse, then smashing a wine glass into her face. The broken glass caused three deep gashes on the side of Kilburn's face, nearly blinding her.
A friend who tried to intervene was also attacked by Hill with the broken glass stem, sustaining injuries to her head and face that required hospital treatment. The nightclub DJ interrupted the song "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon to call for door staff assistance.
Victim's ordeal and wait for justice
Kilburn was left covered in blood and required more than 20 stitches. She had to wait 20 months for justice as Hill denied charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, forcing a two-week trial and requiring victims to give evidence.
After the guilty verdict, Kilburn described Hill's behavior as vile, stating: 'Jade has not once accepted her actions, apologised to me or shown any remorse. She does not care about what she has done and is only sorry now that she is in prison.'
Court outcome and police statement
Hill, from Portland, Dorset, was found guilty and jailed for four years and ten months. She was also handed a five-year restraining order against both victims. Detective Constable Holly Hetherington of Dorset CID said: 'This was a violent and unprovoked attack using a glass, which caused the victims’ nasty injuries. Officers responded quickly to arrest the defendant, and we have worked to compile evidence to hold her to account for her offending.'
