Emma Jane Williams, 41, of Erdington, Birmingham, has been accused of attempting to murder a boy by tampering with his medication, with hidden camera footage capturing her in the act. The prosecution at Birmingham Crown Court alleges that Williams searched online for 'the worst thing you could mix' with the child's prescribed drugs.
Prosecution's Case
Prosecutor Timothy Harrington opened the case against Williams on July 14, 2026, stating that she was 'plotting the demise' of the boy, who cannot be identified due to a court order. Williams faces a single count of attempted murder, allegedly committed in January 2026, which she denies.
Harrington told jurors: 'The defendant tried to kill (the boy) and she did so by interfering with his important medication on a number of occasions.' He described her conduct as 'not a one-off' but 'considered, planned, deliberate action' designed to end the boy's life.
Hidden Camera Evidence
The court was shown covert footage that captured Williams tampering with the medication. Harrington remarked: 'Unfortunately for her she was caught red-handed. This wasn't a moment of madness, this was deliberate. This was no accident, this was no mistake.' He added that Williams had 'never given any sensible explanation for the evidence against her.'
The prosecution asserts that the only plausible explanation for the footage is that Williams intended to kill the child. The trial continues.
