A teenage drug dealer told police 'it's not mine boys' as they pulled a Kinder egg containing £300 worth of cocaine from his pocket. Corey Sutton, 19, was a passenger in a car stopped by officers in Tonyrefail on April 28. When police approached, they noticed a strong smell of cannabis.
Sutton initially pulled out a plastic bag containing cannabis and a grinder, asking officers, 'Is it worth [you] taking that?' He agreed with the searching officer that they wouldn't find anything else. However, during the search, officers discovered a yellow Kinder egg in his pocket, which contained multiple ziplock bags of cocaine.
He repeatedly said 'it's not mine butt' and claimed he 'didn't want it in my house'. The Kinder egg held 10 bags of cocaine, each weighing 0.4g, with a total street value between £200 and £300.
Phone evidence reveals drug dealing
Examination of Sutton's phone revealed multiple messages indicating his involvement in the supply of cocaine and cannabis. Sutton, of Bryngolau, Tonyrefail, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs.
In mitigation, barrister Harry Baker said Sutton had been remanded in custody since his arrest. He described the defendant as a hard worker who had completed his qualifications and held several jobs but turned to drug dealing after becoming unemployed. Baker added: 'We know the devil makes work for idle hands.'
Court imposes custodial sentence
Sentencing, Recorder Greg Bull KC stated that offences involving the supply of drugs were 'too serious' to be dealt with by anything other than an immediate custodial sentence. Sutton was sentenced to 28 months' detention in a young offenders' institute.
