Timir Ahmed Mohamed, a 34-year-old Somalia-born British man, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder after a car struck pedestrians on a busy road in Ealing, west London, on Saturday afternoon. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, was also charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Incident details and injuries
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30pm on June 27, 2026, on Ealing Broadway, a bustling commercial area. Five people were injured, with three taken to hospital. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated that the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening and non-life-changing. Two individuals who were not hospitalized received treatment at the scene.
Footage from the scene showed heroic passersby attempting to intervene, with some pulling at the car’s door handles and smacking windows in an effort to stop the vehicle. The car did not stop at the scene but was later stopped in nearby Grange Park, where Mohamed was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder.
Counter Terrorism involvement
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial inquiries, but the incident is not being treated as terrorism. While investigators are keeping an open mind as to any potential motive, the incident is not being treated as terrorism.”
