A mother has been accused of stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son to death at a family resort hotel. Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, has been charged with two counts of Criminal Homicide after her husband and young son were found dead in the family's hotel room at Great Wolfe Lodge in Pocono Township on Monday.
911 Call Details
She allegedly told a 911 dispatcher, "they're already gone," before asking for help with taking her own life, the US Mirror reported. Officers with the Pocono Township Police Department were dispatched to room 2030 at the hotel at approximately 15.13pm after receiving a report of a "female in distress," police said in a press release. Authorities confirmed that Harrison had called 911 herself.
The mother "advised the dispatcher that she needed help committing suicide," police said. Harrison allegedly said during the call that she wanted to join her husband and son, the US Mirror reported.
Discovery and Injuries
"My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room. They're already gone, I'm sorry," she told the operator, police said. Upon arrival, officers found Harrison's husband and the 3-year-old son dead. Harrison's husband had sustained multiple stab wounds while her son suffered a singular stab wound to the chest, according to an affidavit obtained by WNEP 16.
Harrison had also sustained injuries and was transported to hospital. On her way there, she allegedly told EMS personnel that she was "not supposed to be here." "Every day I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife," she allegedly said, according to police. "It wasn't supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That's what I envisioned since I was a child."
Investigation Ongoing
The family had checked into the resort on September 21. They had initially been set to check out on October 5, but extended their stay until Tuesday. Police said there was no ongoing threat to public safety, and added that the incident was a "violent domestic tragedy."
Authorities have not shared a motive for the double murder. The investigation is ongoing as Harrison awaits arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge.
Jason Lasecki, vice president of corporate communications for Great Wolf Lodge, said: "It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected."
