Man Deliberately Driven At and Trapped Against Wall in Ipswich

A man is in hospital with life-changing injuries after he was deliberately driven at and trapped against a wall, police said.

Incident Details

The alleged incident occurred just before 10pm on Friday, June 19, outside a Co-op supermarket on Fircroft Road, Ipswich. Suffolk Constabulary reported that the crash followed an earlier altercation involving the 20-year-old victim and the driver and passenger of a white Volkswagen Polo.

The car was then driven at the victim deliberately, trapping him against a wall. The driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The parties are believed to be known to each other.

Victim's Condition

The 20-year-old man sustained open leg fractures described as life-changing. He remains in hospital in stable condition.

Arrests

Two 20-year-old men were arrested shortly after the collision on suspicion of attempted murder. Two other men, also aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.

Suffolk Constabulary said: The four men were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned by detectives. A police scene was in place but the road has now reopened.
